Working and learning with AI without losing judgment

Summary. Generative AI is already in classrooms and offices. Cognitio investigates how to integrate it into assessment and training so that the individual retains the problem framework and the final decision. The result is the 20-60-20 framework, published and applied in university settings, which we also use when training corporate teams.

1What the line is

A framework for three moments

The 20-60-20 framework breaks down any AI-assisted task into three phases with deliberate weights: the person formulates the problem, the AI produces the volume, and the person reviews and decides.

It was born as a classroom device and moves directly to the evaluation rubric. In business, the same logic dictates how a team works with AI.

What we have learned

  1. H1With AI allowed, judgment is evaluated

    The tool does not lower the requirement: it shifts it to problem formulation and final judgment.

  2. H2The extremes are not delegated

    Context and judgment are the person's responsibility; AI works in the middle section.

  3. H3From copilot to agent

    When AI goes from suggesting to executing, what needs to be evaluated changes: the ability to manage and govern agents.
