Legacy system migration

Regain control of your data and processes, modernize in phases, and prepare the ground for artificial intelligence. Without vendor lock-in and, if you need it, without leaving your premises.

Software that works, but has you trapped

Many organizations rely on a twenty-year-old program, without documentation, maintained by a single vendor. Sometimes that vendor has disappeared; other times they are uncooperative, raise prices, or announce the end of service. Meanwhile, the system stores what cannot be lost: records, invoices, history, the company's memory. The data is yours, but it's not in your hands.

We help you get out of there with a phased method, verifiable at each step, and with the final decision always on your side: retain, integrate, migrate, or a combination of the three.

Our method, in five steps

STEP 1

We read the system

We go through the program with a normal user, as your team does, and systematically record each screen, list, and export that the system itself allows. If there is a copy of the data, even if incomplete, we take advantage of it.

STEP 2

We relate the data

We find out how the information connects: which customer has which orders, which invoice corresponds to which payment, which document belongs to which file. We reconstruct the map from the outside.

STEP 3

We model through iterations

The screen is contrasted with the data and the data with the screen. If something doesn't add up, the model is corrected and reloaded. Rules that were never written come to light here, before migrating.

STEP 4

We open or replicate

Depending on what is convenient, we give the current system a layer of APIs and connectors to communicate with the rest, or we build the new platform with the technology of your choice. We port what is used, leave historical data for consultation, and discard the obsolete.

STEP 5

We check that it works the same

Turn by turn, automatic tests compare the old with the new: same totals, same records, same relationships. We call it parity, and you see the results before taking any steps.

AND AFTERWARDS

Data ready for AI

With data accessible via API, artificial intelligence ceases to be a promise: classify, summarize, search, and draft on your own information. See our AI service or read how to make the leap from legacy to AI.

What we need from you

  • User access to the screens of the current system
  • A person who knows the daily work and can teach us how it is used
  • Your written authorization, with scope and dates, to access your data

What we don't need

  • Technical documentation of the system
  • The source code
  • Provider technicians: if they collaborate, we leverage them; if not, we move forward

We always work within what your organization is authorized to do: we never force technical controls or access anything that isn't yours.

Confined, if you need it

There are organizations where data cannot leave the building. For them, the entire process can occur within their perimeter.

  • Extraction, transformation, and verification on your own servers
  • Offline, on an isolated network, if you demand it
  • Open-source AI running on your hardware, with no external services
  • Discreetly: no one outside your organization needs to know
  • With the same standards as always: access control, traceability, backups, and testing

Our method commitments

Verifiable parity

Automatic tests that compare the old and new systems. You see the results.

Your data, your infrastructure

Accounts, servers, code, and data remain in your organization's name.

System coexistence

The old system is not shut down until the new one is tested and you sign off on it.

Rollback prepared

Each phase has acceptance criteria, a person who validates them, and a plan to undo the step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the current system need to be replaced?

Not necessarily. Sometimes it's enough to open it up with APIs and connectors, or to keep a query application for historical data while new work moves to another platform. The decision is made with the diagnosis in hand, not before.

What if the vendor doesn't cooperate or no longer exists?

Our method is designed for that exact scenario: we work with user access and the data your organization is entitled to, even if it arrives incomplete. If the vendor cooperates, great; if not, we don't depend on them.

Can we do this without our data leaving our premises?

Yes. The extraction, migration, and subsequent AI can run on your servers or dedicated hardware, even on a network with no internet connection.

Where do we start?

With a scoped transition assessment: what the system contains, what can be extracted, what your organization still needs, what risks you face, and what exit options you have. To start the conversation, you don't need to send us credentials or databases.

Do you have a trapped system?

Tell us what system you use and what you need to preserve. We will propose a transition assessment with a specific scope.
